We lose our ability to calibrate our morality without contact. I know you're not asking for advice, but I will offer one thing I learned that works universally. Think in terms of interdependence, rather than dependence or independence. Synergy is real. However, don't let yourself get taken advantage of so measure virtue in others and be with those that strive for it. Great people are out there and they want you to find them. People like yourself, that want to be contributors and feel alone. People want to be with people that make them strive for the best.
