I should have broken that one twig of the milkweed plant off before I took the picture. Oh well.

There used to be thousands and thousands of monarch butterflies everywhere. Even in Brooklyn, NY back in the 60s.

How do you tell a kid these days that the late summer skies used to be filled with orange butterflies? They won't believe you.
