Did you see any Monarch butterfly cocoons? Years ago, you couldn't walk into a field of Milkweed without seeing hundreds of them.
No cocoons. I did see a few of the caterpillars. I expect the cocoons will be showing up soon. Only one monarch butterfly, but he flew away before I could get a picture.
There used to be thousands and thousands of monarch butterflies everywhere. Even in Brooklyn, NY back in the 60s.
How do you tell a kid these days that the late summer skies used to be filled with orange butterflies? They won't believe you.
