You're actually proud of your consumerism? On Reddit you might get thousands of upvotes. Mobile phones are just overpriced garbage with barely any changes between yearly editions. Why the fuck do you need to buy a new phone every year? Does it make you feel trendy? Popular? Hip? Don't fall for the marketing Jew. You actually thought buying a new phone every year was so cool that you had to make a picture of it and post it online for strangers across the internet to adore you. It's not cool, and you could've saved 2000$ dollars over 10 years by only making an upgrade every 3-4 years.

Between 2009 and 2019, I have basically had 2 phones.

Which 2 phones?

Samsung Omnia 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4?

They were 2 HTCs, couldn't tell you which ones. I'm on my third phone now which is the Nokia 2019 equivalent to a brick.

Intentionally downgraded from a smartphone. I liked my last phone but I didn't like what I was reading about where tech was going with Google and smart phones in general.

If a 'clean' OS for a smart phone were developed, with no tracking features, I might be tempted to go back to a smart phone. Maybe Blackberry.

Sadly, on January 11, Let'sEncrypt (HTTPS provider) will disable a cipher causing compatibility problems with basically all smartphones from the replaceable battery era.

Show this article (en.everybodywiki.com) to whoever thinks non-replaceable batteries are a bright idea.

I miss small phones

I miss those with user-replaceable batteries for these (en.everybodywiki.com) reasons.

I miss true landlines, which work when the power is out.

10 years, 10 phones

Literally a credit slave.

I also prefer keeping my phone longer. But planned obsolescence (en.everybodywiki.com).

I am currently using a flip phone. My first cell phone from my teens. There's no excuse to need a new phone more than once ever 4+ years.

I've owned phones between that phone and when I started using it again ~4 years ago. But why do I need a phone that costs hundreds of dollars base, turns me into a product, video records + audio records every moment of the day, and costs nearly $100 per month to use?

I am by no means a poorfag. But that's why I'm not, I'm not into wasting money. A cellphone needs 1 function: to call. A cell phone should have 2 functions: to call and to text.

That is it. Everything else is a bonus feature.

I see. But how do you access the Internet on the go?
