Life is a rare phenomenon, sentience even moreso. The universe/multiverse is a sandbox, you have the ability to create purpose and meaning for it.

Otherwise you are correct, endless meaninglessness.

This is the answer. I would wager if God exists, they might be young or not fully developed yet. Imagine creating your own existence, while struggling to stay alive.
