Trying to puzzle through this issue. I'm not asking what's currently legal or constitutional - more just how do you think things should be?

When you sell someone shoes, you transfer ownership of the shoes.

Facebook/Twitter/whoever owns the hard drives that contain the data, and the servers that host/publish the data.

I'm not sure I have a more apt analogy though.
