Here, Here! We didn't take the fight to them, they took it to us and lost. Indians fought against us in the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
Actually...he makes a good point. Unironcally, actually serious: he makes a good point. We should cancel that holiday for the same reasons we rebranded the holiday from Columbus Day.
1st wave of people to cross the Bering Strait mainly stayed in the Arctic. 2nd wave then crossed the strait and settled across North America. 3rd wave came across, they were evil colonists who murdered, stole the land, and genocided the second wave of people. After that, the Europeans sailed across the Atlantic.
The Injuns have no more right to the land than the Whites. The Injuns are nothing more than evil genocidal land stealing colonists.
Or there's the other argument -
The Injuns were stone age savages who were too stupid to even invent the wheel before the White man showed up. And the Truth and Reconciliation Day only brings attention to those facts fuelling racism and discrimination.
You're right. Almost every last Native American tribe - before Western Colonization - were still in the stone age. Meaning, they did not discovery metallurgy and were still using stone tools and wood tools. Sure, they had advanced mathematics and astronomy systems (Aztec). If the Aztecs had calmed the fuck down and become more peaceful/industrious, they would have created an amazing civilization that could have rivaled the Roman Empire. But, nope, they were still stuck in their violent wars, human sacrifice, etc. And eventually fell.
They were stupider than stone age people because they couldn't even invent the wheel.
Holy crap, you're right. They did not use the wheel until Western Civilization brought it to them.
