The news has actually convinced this woman that it's THE INTERNET that cannot be trusted, can you believe that? That there are nothing but "crackpot conspiracy theories" on the internet. I brought up how strange it was how they just overnight switched the narrative from "muh coff-1984" to "we must go to war with russia" thinking that she might also find that a little odd. Instead, she starts yelling at me, talking over me saying "I haven't even drank my morning coffee, don't start in with me with your racist conspiracy theory bullshit." These people cannot be reasoned with, especially if they are over the age 50. So fuck em. Because they would gladly, gleefully turn and fuck us in a heartbeat if the news told them to do so.

My wife and I were out with a group of friends this weekend. Five couples. The topic of Russia / Ukraine came up and everyone was free with their thoughts and comments. Split pretty evenly between pro-Russia and pro-Ukraine. I was quietly listening, until one of the husbands asked me what I thought.
To paraphrase my reply, I said "I'm not going to claim any special knowledge of the situation, insight into the way people feel, or deep understanding of root causes. I can only comfortably say that the situation is not as black-and-white as either side is making out, and I will reserve judgement until things are less fluid. But feel free to spout off CNN and FOX talking points at each other. It's fun to watch."

They left me out of it after that, which was what I was hoping for. There was some definite tension and resentment in the room until the topic switched to something else.

Yep, this is how they've made it these days. You simply must have an opinion, and then use Wikipedia sources to back it up along with talking head points to show how correct you are.

Nauseating. There isn't honest conversation much anymore.

I'm almost always on the outside of any conversation like that one. Whatever the distraction-du-jour is, I tend to let people yammer about it while poking holes in both sides.

BUT if you don't totally 100% agree with THEIR side then you are automatically considered to be wearing the opposing jersey and are assumed to be just as fanatical for that side as they are for their side.

That is why you HAVE to have an opinion. So they know what box to put you in. Friend or foe.

Yeah, pretty much. It is why "reconciliation" seems further and further away.

I mean yeh, im sure there was. It was a great reply until your autism launched a coup and took over the last sentence.

I just tell people I see it as market manipulation. 'Follow the money' is a pragmatic way to screw with their programming.

Also a very good tactic.

Socratic method. Opening eyes isn't a single discussion. But it requires they want to know (most don't), and they are capable of analysis (most can't).

There is a lot of misinformation and bullshit on the internet that you have to wade through to discern some degree of accuracy and truth. Most do not wish to make the effort. Also, encountering so much disinformation will develop a sense of skepticism which can border on the unhealthy.

It goes both ways.

Because now, instead of hearing how they will use the vaccine to kill us all, we will hear how they will use war with russia to kill us all.

Prior it was flouride, chemtrails, weather manipulation, 9/11, war with the middle east, fema camps...

It's always "They will use [currentEvent] to reduce human population to a few million".

It's always the same shit.

[–] 0 pt

It's all just a means to and end for (((them))) via the Georgia Guidestones 10 NWO commandments.

Those stones were set up 1980. That was 40 years ago.

Human population has doubled in size since then. (populationmatters.org)

Chances are, the people born when those stones were set up, will mostly die to old age or natural causes. And chances are, so will you.

Thats funny I just had an almost identical experience. Women, even smart ones, are incredibly easily brainwashed.

Just broke up with a woman yesterday over this thing. Conservative, Christian, fairly reasonable (by woman standards)...but I didn't even say anything too strong, just along the lines of, "War is never really 'good' but it's not black and white and Russia has a point," and she had a melt down that I was now somehow evil. Got no time for that, had to nope out.

can't have these kind of conversations with women, not about big topics.

My wife tried talking about a conflict with me once, all she had was the MSM talking points and I utterly destroyed her. She's my wife because she's learned to trust my judgement and take on things involving government actions.

She's yet to discuss this current conflict, and probably because our oldest is completely OCD on it and we discuss what we've read to see if it makes sense.
