It is sometimes difficult for non-alcoholics to understand, because they assume it is about a love of alcohol.
It isn't.
It is a profound discomfort with your own self, and a crazy desire to not be inside of your own mind.
It's about trying to remove the pain for a few short minutes. Been there. You're not alone in that struggle.

This explains it so well. Just to turn off that voice in my head for a little while. sigh
I have a good friend dealing with this level of alcoholism albeit she has wernicke-korsakoff syndrome and has zero interest in anything. Life for her consists of drinking (thanks jewber for alcohol delivery) and fast food.
