The key to drinking is only have a nice beer or wine with dinner after work or a night cap before bed. Drinking like you're 20 something again will only lead to fuckups.
You cannot drink like a normal person, and you don't even want to drink like a normal person.
Have you ever controlled your drinking? I know i have, once or twice, by force of will. But that shit is worse than not drinking at all. I have never in my entire life wanted two beers.
Have you ever wanted just two beers? Have you ever had two beers and thought to yourself "I don't want another"?
Really good point to ponder.
The thing about "normal" drinking is that no person who probably could handle a six pack as a one off would ever think that is an acceptable amount. They would think they could handle one or two.
If you think, "I can handle a sixer," you probably can't handle even one.
Never quit quitting!
Been off since about June sometime. Just before Christmas I was repairing a fence in a dense neighborhood between 7-8am. Pulling nails and making noise. A woman comes out screaming at me and calling me rude so I apologize but it gave me a bad taste that I couldn't shake.
So the next house I went to work at was vacant and the old tenants left wine and some pre-mixed margaritas in the fridge. Messed up and drank it all.
Was a great reminder of why I stopped.
If a fuck-up leads you to better understand, then it was worth it. Keep trying. You can do it.
I messed up last week, started drinking multiple beers every night again, got sick with the flu because I sapped my immunity.
When it comes to drinking, I seem to be getting worse as I get older instead of better. I guess it's just time to shut it down. I cam be pretty hard on myself.
