Didn't tell anyone I was going to stop drinking because I wasn't sure I could. Been two weekends. I'm not an everyday drinker but I am certainly a weekend beer Binger. I didn't think there was a problem. I was informed that it was. I looked at my weekend angry post from here and confirmed. It wasn't hard to stop, I just feel like I'm missing something. Kinda like when I quit smoking. Anyway, thought I'd share.

I filled my time I would've spent smoking with reading and exercising, replacing my old habit with a new productive one. I never had a drinking problem per se, but knowing I can't play guitar or do anything worth a shit once I drink is a good incentive not to.

Congratulations and keep up the good work.

We're proud of you.

It's much easier to quit now than it would be later. Good job getting that bullshit out of your life.

I didnt read your other post but, just because you wouldn't have said something while sober doesn't make it any less true. Alcohol doesn't make you say stuff, it just makes you think it's OK to say it.

I got over that a long time ago. Being sober doesn't stop me from saying anything I feel like saying. Being loaded doesn't matter.

Jews are a bunch of satanic baby eating monsters and Hitler was right about them.

See?

Welcome to the wagon. Something might seem missing now, but that's normal. Not many of us a few years in look at what we replaced it with and think, ""Darn, I sure wasted time enriching my life when I could have spent it drinking."

Good work. The "missing something" may have a lot to do with habit. Get some Zero-THC CBD drinks. Find a flavor you like and keep a few around for when you would have usually been drinking. They will help you mellow out but you wont get "drunk" or any kind of "high" off of it and the motion of drinking something carbonated will make the habit easier to drop over time.

You'll likely be tested 4-6 weeks after quitting. I remember quitting smoking and everything was fine until 4 weeks in and I just had an unexpected urge to buy a pack of smokes and light one up. If you can past that, then you should be fine.

Wait, I've never smoked as a habit and I have the urge to grab a pack every couple of months. (It's usually just a passing thing, and my wife has a much harder time putting them down, so I don't. If I buy a pack, she'll smoke 3/4 of it, and then it will be a few weeks of her quitting again. Thankfully I don't binge the booze much anymore, which often brought a pack along with it, especially if there was a machine at the bar.)

Good for you. Keep it up

I might help to replace with something that require sobriety, like hunting or a motorsport. If nothing else, a new hobby is a reward for kicking a habit that was more trouble than it was worth.

Remember that all booze, beer, wine and spirits are poison. Doesn't matter how hoppy, refreshing, aged, bold, subtle, big, bright, dark, clear, cloudy, leggy, peaty, tanniny, fruity, caramely, oaky, smoky or garden hose nosy it may be...it's all poison.
