No, he couldn't, but that was the lie the network wanted the writers to go with.

Al Bundy is a fictional character ya know?

The secret to his grilling is that he never cleans his grill... then one day his dirtbag neighbor did...

It was almost twice as fucking hard to afford a house in 1987 as today you whining faggots.

Minimum wage in 1987 was $3.35 an hour, and the median home price was $142,060 with a 10.25% interest rate. Monthly payments for that loan would be $1,146 per month. That's 342 times the minimum wage.

Fast forward to today with a $7.25 minimum wage, and the median home price of $350,000 with a 3.13% interest rate. Monthly payments for that loan would be $1,350 per month. That's 186 times the minimum wage.

Your math on the payments for today is wildly incorrect.

No. Try it yourself. Get any mortgage calculator and plug in a 3.13% interest rate and $315,000 principal.

You're forgetting (((pmi))), (((property taxes))), (((home owners insurance))).

Most jobs paid way more than minimum wage and shoe salesman was not a minimum wage job.

I worked at the deli in Wawa during that period and made 9/hr as a teenager making sandwiches, which required no training and was not a commissioned job.

50K a year was a good salary back then.

What happened is that they fucked everyone. Jobs that used to pay well started paying nothing and quality of everything you bought went down across the board while prices rose unabated for the next 30 years.

McDonalds actually tasted good back then, now they're probably using rats. Most of you just don't know any better, this shit life is all you have ever known and you think it's fine. lol

You made 3 times the minimum wage in 1987 making sandwiches? I call bullshit.

Jobs that used to pay well started paying nothing.

There's no way you were old enough then to understand and believe this. Every fuckin' shit job paid $3.35 an hour. I had a job that paid that. Countless friends worked in all kinds of places from stupid stores in the mall (like shoe stores), full service gas stations (they still had those then), messengers, etc. $3.35 an hour buddy.

1990, close enough.

Nah, you're delusional.

Nobody made 3 dollars an hour except mexicans. The korean guy next door owned a cheese steak place paid me 5 dollars under the table on the weekend to take orders over the phone and ring people up. Even living at home as a kid, it wasn't really worthwhile, which is why I eventually I stopped going to both jobs.

A fella could make more money going to parties and cleaning out liquor cabinets when everyone passed out. One summer I found a garbage bag full of goodies buried in the woods after a party, made WAY more money than both of those jobs put together.

3 dollahs. The fuck would I do with that? lol

And we need to expel those 'boomers', as has been done so many times before.
