👍 And mind you both of those grandparents lived long lives eating lots of pork. 88 & 99 years. Ham hock and beans to die for! Shenandoah Valley mtn folks. Grandpa always had salt cured hams hanging in the barn. Sliced thin on a butter’d up homemade buttermilk biscuits with fresh picked string beans from the garden cooked down with onions, bacon and bacon grease, mashed potatoes with fresh chives and fresh raw milk a ton of butter mixed in, omg delicious! The meals that ol’ woman made in that tiny ass kitchen of a little saltbox home down in the flats by the creek would blow your mind. Damn I miss her. Should’ve payed more attention to what she did, but there was barely room for her in there.
That southern food is good shit, but you can’t eat it and just sit around, you best be burning it all off with some good old fashion hard work or you’re gonna be a hog ready for the slaughter yourself!
