Curious, did the handle weigh too much to weight the bacon down effectively the reason you switched to a press?

Those Griswolds really are the best. I have just a couple. Recently I’ve taken to cooking my bacon outside on a two burner BlackStone griddle. It works great, drippings go into a catch you can save and easy as shit to clean. A spay bottle of water, a couple paper towels and done. You can hear the neighbor’s dogs noses sniffing the air and their mouths salivating.

It was a depth issue. The spatula wasn’t deep enough, and only pressed down with the tip.

The bacon press was something my family member picked up when he saw what I was doing, and I’m glad he did. It works much better.

The blackstones are awesome, I’m jealous. I don’t have much space for it short of throwing a lot of money at an outdoor kitchen, but would love one. They are so versatile.

Ahhh, gotcha. I found cooking the bacon slower helped keep the curling to a minimum and a holding down with the long spatula for a few seconds brought the occasional unruly strips into submission.

I take the BlackStone camping all the time. Nothing better than a kick ass breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns and sourdough to start the day’s adventure! Maybe you’ve had them but if not, Idaho Spuds Golden Grill Hashbrown Potatoes are damn good tators for cooking on the griddle or pan. They’re dehydrated, just soak in some warm water for 10~15min, pat dry and cook as usual. Great for camp or home. I have a buddy get them for me at Costco.

Out of curiosity, what do you do with the saved grease?

Oh man, there’s many reasons to keep bacon grease! I’d give you a rundown, but it’d be easier for you to give it a quick google to get the full scope of it! Those tasty beautiful strips are only going half hog when it comes to bacon, gots to go full hog! My ol’ grandma, God rest her sweet soul was the original baconator! She used bacon grease in all kinds of stuff. I’m surprised she didn’t think of the ice cream.
