Sir, that was Dan Cathy, former CEO of Chick-fil-A, in a 2020 video from an Atlanta church event. He got down on his knees and shined the shoes of Black rapper Lecrae Moore as a grotesque display of "repentance" for supposed white racism.
It was no mere gesture. Cathy urged white folks to shine Black strangers' shoes—tennis shoes, sandals, whatever—to show "shame" and an "apologetic heart." Conservatives rightly mocked it as cuckoldry and self-abasement. The clip resurfaced later amid boycotts over the company's diversity hires.
That is absolutely disgusting. Now I'm glad I don't eat there. (It's because I don't eat fast food, not because of politics, but I'm still glad.)
