Some things are innate, like what we find attractive. We find obesity unattractive and gross because it is a disease state. We find facial symmetry beautiful because it indicates a healthy immune system. We find our own people more beautiful because they resemble our mothers (a child’s first love) and families. In order to keep ourselves safe from potentially violent outside tribes who may kill us to steal our valuables and women we find anyone who does not resemble our family or clan to be ugly and we feel a heightened sense of apprehension around such others. It’s not social engineering or brainwashing, it’s biology. It developed for a reason. Simple as.
