IMO organ transplant surgeries are a huge scam considering how much they cost to perform and how little benefit the person gets from them.
For example, the average lifespan of a person receiving an artificial heart is 120 days. Who is to say the person wouldn't have lived longer on their own biological heart? The surgery is a death sentence, and this is a device that has been approved by the FDA.
Human heart transplants are a bit better. Something like 76% five-year survival rate. It still kills you, but more slowly. But what of the quality of life? One has to take immunosuppressants for the rest of his or her remaining lifespan (which won't be that long).
