I have a lot of coins in that category. I never bought a bag of old silver coins but it would be tempting just to see if I could plug a few more holes in my coin collector books ... that I have done little with over the last ~50 years.
Anything in particular you're looking for? I was left all of the junk silver my grandparents had, if there's a coin or two there I can send to a collection I'd be happy to pass it along.
I packed my coin books with my other valuable stuff in my safe deposit box and haven't handled them in years. No idea what is still missing. I truly appreciate your offer though! Maybe I should buy you some coin books for you to fill for your own organized collection and enjoyment!?
An acquaintance in Junior High inherited a couple of nail kegs full of silver his grandfather had collected at his pub sometime after America started the copper clad transition ~1964. The dumb kid was going to sell it all for scrap silver content. I was able to buy a few VG to Fine condition coins from him before he did the unthinkable. I tried to get more but the kid was a slacker and unmotivated to screen all of his coins and offer me his best for a premium over scrap value. I'm thankful I was able to get what I got from him.
I've pulled all the good stuff out...some morgans, good franklin halves. The rest of what I have is filler material and would probably be sold if silver went sky high. A lot of it is only recognizable as a coin because it's the right shape.
