Ms Giliomee (74) was attacked in her home inside a retirement complex at 3 am when she let her dog out for a pee. She sat down on the sofa while she had left the door open at a crack so the dog could come back in, when the men burst in. One man grabbed her by the arm and she started praying out loud. HE STARTED UNBUTTONING HIS FLY, to which she said “in Jesus name, you will not do it”. They went through her belongings and took what they wanted. One man kicked her. They then went outside, found a shovel and came back to hit her over the head with it Her daughter had moved her there from another area so she could be safer in this secure complex. Ms Giliomee received a large gash to her head which required stitches. Her daughter said she is still in a great deal of pain and dizzy from the assault. She is now afraid of the dark and had to see a trauma counsellor.
