I find this topic interesting.

Imo a large problem with this country is how we outsource the care of our parents. This is something that traditionally was done in the home. Now it's a given that at some point you'll ship them off to a care center, and true some people do need the 24 hour care that these places provide, but many more don't.

Not only is this a morally questionable thing to do, it is costing Medicaid /Medicare a fortune. It is not sustainable.

It didn't escape me that the paper alluded more immigration was a solution, heh, imagine that.

I was on vacation this week and was already ill that the place I used to go as a kid had become another booze hub for young "adults". The waitress set a family next to us, and there was an elderly woman with them. She commented very lightly to the rest of her family that "she was cold". The father in a loud condescending tone quipped back at her "MOM, calm down! We'll get your sweater in just a minute!". This type of dialogue continued for a little while. The old lady asking very quiet and calmly, the "father" shouting back and talking down. I eventually had enough, looked directly at him, and said "Are you going to quit being an asshole to your mother!?!?!"

TL,DR; He jumps up, gets right in my face and is yelling at me in front of my family. I just told him to "go for it", but he wouldn't. Finally it comes out that the woman is his mother-in-law, and the wife tries to defend her prick of a husband saying "she can't hear well so they have to be loud." I told her it was about tone, not volume, while the restaurant seated us elsewhere to avoid further confrontation.

Hours later and it's just him and his daughter still sitting in the same spot. Wife and MIL nowhere to be found. Guess she finally understood, or at least I hope she did.......

Wow that guy sounds like a total ass. He's probably a jerk to his wife too.

I live in Maine. Most of the elderly I know would rather be left to wander in the wilderness than be placed in a 'care' 'home'. But having lived/worked in many other states (medical field), I will say the nursing homes here are a lot nicer than anywhere else I've seen. Even the low-tier (cheap) ones are clean and nice. The elderly hang out playing cards and watching TV. Nothing like some of the horrid conditions I've seen in other places.

well, as per the article "shortage in caregivers" cue that as a sign to start shipping subsaharan-african-voodoo-cannibals to maine in (((order))) to fulfill the propagandas goals... once cannibals move into health care, as they have no commodity producing talent.... your "quality" will erode to that of "prison conditions" filled with absolute incompetence!!!

Well, if bad dietary advice hadn't been shoved down our throats (pun not intended) for the last 30-40 years, we wouldn't need so many caregivers. That's my feeling on it...

Obesity has caused a lot of health issues. I don't know that you need any advice to stay thin, it is pretty simple to understand.
