Man I am going to really show my nerd side.
Here is why LEGO cares.
After the first LEGO movie of course LEGO became the focus of green peace and other save the whales groups. Well green peace made a video that featured LEGO sets, and other brick interlocking toys (I won’t speak the evils name).
This video really got their Jimmy’s russeled because they used a remake of the Everything is Awsome song. It showed oil being flowed into the sets and covering them all.
Very well done and got the message out how LEGO is bad. Grrrrrrr at big money!
Soon after LEGO cut their partnership with Shell. A partnership that has been for decades and declared they would seek out a renewable resource for the materials used.
One thing you have to understand about LEGO is that they pride themselves upon a consistent product. I have orginal LEGO elements from the 60s somesonite sets. Also trains from the 70s
Well those elements will interlock with elements made today. That is because tolerances for LEGO are of higher quality than aerospace products.
Not to mention they are very QC with all facets of the product.
Now the molds LEGO uses are hand carved and extremely expensive. I am talking about millions for just one fucking mold. In time and resources to make one.
LEGO must be sure they can use those to keep viable because as it stands LEGO just ain’t all that anymore. They rode the wave and got super creative for about two years.
Well now they are stealing the set designs from people on LEGO ideas.
The ghostbusters firehouse was a design by the same guy that made the ecto 1 and LEGO just took it from him without so much as a thank you. When he called them out on reddit he got a set for free and was hit with a gag order.
Now that Jurassic Park set with the brick built T-Rex. Yeah was an ideas set as well and everyone is acting like LEGO made it.
Pretty soon LEGO will fall to nothing in market share and then I will collect it again.
Not a thing.
I used to be fucking serious about LEGO. Talking about 1700+ sets of LEGO. Many of those over 1000 pieces. Dude I sold 12,000 bucks (USD) of LEGO in a year just with mini figures. (Little LEGO people)
Me and a guy actually had 12% of the entire supply of LEGO sets once .....I the WORLD. Currently I have over 500lbs of LEGO brick. Just to wrap your head around that .
Those totes that are 5ft long and 3ft deep? Yeah got 11 of those in my storage locker lol.
It became very obvious that LEGO had and does still pay the mods on reddit LEGO with favors or sets very early one due to their practices. As well how they handled things.
LEGO is a very weird fucking company in how they actually encourage the second hand market.
See every year at comic con in San Diego and NY they have exclusive give aways for minifigs and sets. Well the sets are produced in their facility within Europe, but the figs are made in Mexico.
I learned early on that neck bearded cucks were the ones after the figs. And best of all it wasn’t their money. It was mommy and daddy money.
So I spent months scouting Facebook and finding people who worked for the LEGO plant. Got me a few workers I would send money via PayPal at first to smuggle figs out by the 100s and ship them to me.
Didn’t have the packaging but I would pay on average 3 to 5 a figure.
Then had a buyer in Europe that had a store front I would sell them too for 100 to 300 each depending upon what they were.
Man that was fucking cash making scheme of the century.
Met this one dude I called LEGO mob.
Was good friend with a regional manager at GameStop and I got so many promo figures for the LEGO movie and whatever else. Well LEGO mob was interesting in fucking cases of them.
Didn’t cost that regional shit.
Regional told me what he wanted as far as sets and I told LEGO mob what they were (like 800 bucks worth) and LEGO mob said well I say there is around 2k worth of shit in trade so 1200 is your remainder.....
Anything you want too? I said I would like to see what you have if I can.
He said
Sure, but you tell anyone where I live and who I am then I come to your house and slit your throat while you sleep.
I laughed at first. He didn’t
Go into his basement and dude. There was at least 200k in LEGO down there. New shit too like 200 dollar sets just stacked up 6ft high and shit.
