Zulus own a significant amount of land in the province through a tribal land administration body called the Ngonyama Trust. This organisation ensures land is owned/distributed according to Zulu tradition, i.e through the Chiefs, Elders etc. They are concerned that once the ANC appropriates land from white farmers, the Zulu tribal land will be next. Their instinct will be to protect their own land against the same people taking it from farmers, but they wont help farmers in the fight because redistribution of white land will still be to blacks. They're 'posturing' to give the message that the ANC must not take the Ngonyama Trust's land.
