I suspect customs is a large part of the current government created supply shortage. A cargo jet would still be subject to customs delays. That's why smuggling is probably the best answer right now. The cartels already have free reign and a supply chain setup at the boarder.

Oh yeah forgot about customs. A quick search found air cargo from China is 400% higher now then 2 years ago. And so the delays are longer than ever as well.
