What if the plan all along was to invade and occupy Afghanistan until we lost as many troops as we lost civilians on 9/11/2001? We did that. Back on 9/12/2001, that would have sounded like a good plan if we never told the Taliban. Telling the Taliban would have let them know their end game was to kill a certain number of Americans ASAP.
