The way you get to Autophagy is by switching over to ketosis and producing ketones to use as an energy source in your brain and other cells for metabolism during an extended fast of a minimum of 18 hour. I would do vegetables one meal spaced 24 hours apart. Low carbs, low fat and protein never failed to throw me into ketosis. Instead of starving I lost my appetite and just melted the fat away. The only cells that run off exclusively carbohydrates are red blood cells. The A1C tells of toxic sugar engorement and is a marker for pending chronic disease. Personally I have dropped tons of weight by dietary changes only. More importantly I have removed my visceral fat, absorbed skin tags, a barnacle and believe it or not I’m growing my hair back. I’ve kinda settled into a clean paleo keto occasion carb (still no added sugar, anything processed especially with rancid seed oils) in a four hour window of eating. With sixty pounds gone from my 65 year old frame, using whole foods as medicine, and invoking Autophagy to redirect my bio dome I can almost see the fountain of youth. Maybe it is our natural condition. If something has been gumming up the works it’s probably your diet.

I have a similar process. I did OMAD for a year. Now I eat twice a day, lunch and dinner. I don't eat past 5pm. Alcohol unfortunately was the main problem. I'm 2 years alcohol free. A weird byproduct of quitting alcohol is I no longer tolerate sweet drinks like juices and iced coffee drinks. It sickens me. I stopped drinking sodas decades ago. I have a lot more strength now. I have a balanced diet of protein, vegetables, grains, and fruit. So far so good.
