I'm not trying to 'prove' anything. But if it's on TV, it's almost certainly (((entertainment))) until I know otherwise. Lots of people are desperate for attention ('I saw Bigfoot!'), or have a financial angle.
On the other hand, demonic possession would explain a lot. I am smart enough to know I don't have all the answers, and never will, and that's OK.
It's too bad the vatican doesn't allow the recording of exorcisms.
I wonder why?
Officially it's to protect the persons involved/victims, it's kind of like medical privacy
And beyond that, what could be the possible end results/scenarios if they did?
I think it would polarize society/put it in tension. Skeptics would remain skeptics, would eventually start to go fully hysterical as in "This is abuse of mentally ill people! This has to stop!", believers would remain believers, would "radicalize" eventually, some groups going full mass hysteria rendering the weirdest scenes observable in some US megachurches completely reasonable...
What about mystics and wannabe witches? Many would start a "career" I think, some going full satan, some becoming self proclaimed exorcists
I mean, from the vatican's POV, there are lots of rooms for loss of control, of the situation
Sure it would reinforce the faith, renew it eventually, but it wouldn't stop there. The opposite phenomenon would be equally true, non believers and anti christians would start to push back on christianity and the vatican more specifically, it would culminate into a political battle I think. And there are reasons to believe that it wouldn't be for the benefit of the church, we're talking about demonic possession here, that's not exactly within the realm of "rationality"...
