Mask impedes breathing in an unhealthy manner. It of course does not impede viruses.
Mandated masks are a statement that all humans are a risk to one another merely by existing. It's like forcing men to wear chastity belts as a safety device as all men are potential rapists.

No. It's being against wearing a helmet when you're more than 50 feet out of the construction site where there's less than 0.02% chance of a nut falling on your head, killing you.
I don't want it because the odds of me dying of what it's supposed to protect me from are so fucking low that the benefits far outweigh the negatives.
Masks do not stop corona transmission at all.
Surgical masks are designed to stop bacteria from entering a sterile field during surgery. Corona is a virus, not a bacteria - viruses are much smaller and pass straight through the pores of the mask.
Cloth masks do absolutely nothing, as every pathogen goes through the pores of those.
Masks however prevent you from breathing properly, as you are circulating the same bacterial pathogens from your nose and mouth for hours on end, which end up in your lungs and can cause bacterial pneumonia.
Not the aerosol ones.
Also, people who aren't symptomatic or coughing aren't transmitting these droplets, so it makes no sense for those who aren't unwell to be wearing them either.
Droplet doesn't mean what you think it means. Cloth or surgical masks may stop spit, but will have no effect on droplets (aerosols) of which (iirc) you emit tens of thousands in normal speech. Compare the size of a virus to the size of the openings in a mask. It's like mandating every yard has a chain-link fence to keep out mosquitos.
That said, a mask can help you to avoid a virus, just can't help anyone to avoid yours. If you use a properly fitted N95, N99, or P100 respirator, then it will help you.
There is no evidence that cloth or surgical masks have a higher efficacy rate than prayer, or hoping really hard.

I'm not anti-mask. I'm against whatever impedes creating the sense of unity amongst people. A hard hat doesn't hinder seeing expressions of other people. It may give you a bad hairdo and only after you take it off.
The brain is developed to interpret a majority of the intention of other people mostly through their body language and the facial expressions make a big part of that. We literally can't even understand each other well with half the faces covered up.
If you are willing to forgo such a huge downgrade on your quality of life for a chance at living longer, go for it. I personally prefer a higher quality of life, not longevity. What good is living long if you can't even make genuine connections with people?
Before you start saying "but in Asian countries people wear masks all the time", I want you to know those countries are experiencing the crash in birth rate that will make the countries go extinct in the next couple of centuries.
