I’ve personally witnessed John McAfee engage in pump and dumps in late 2017 where he’d announce a coin of the week and days before would release the name of the cruptocurrency so long as you paid him BTC. On Discord there would be crypto servers where sketchy guys would direct message you what coin mcafee would announce in return for paying them.
