Wells Fargo has shut down the bank account of America First activist Lauren Witzke, leaving her stranded out of state with completely no money.

In a post on Telegram, Witzke, who ran as the Republican candidate for the Senate in Delaware in the 2020 elections, revealed that Wells Fargo had completely shut down her bank account, removing all of her money from the system, leaving her with a “zero balance” instead. In a call with the bank, Witzke was informed that the action taken was a purely “business decision,” and that they have the right to close her account down at any time. “Had I not been surrounded by friends in Florida, I would be completely stranded,” she wrote, as she would be stuck out of state with absolutely no money at all.

Currency is already mostly digital. The only difference is that a bank/government can't suck your account to zero with crypto like they can with bank accounts, YOU would have to manually send those funds.

They can ban you from participating in the market in various ways but they can't just suck up your account without your knowledge/explicit cryptographic authorization.

And currently Bitcoin is getting Taproot upgrade which makes it possible to have "native" coin mixing functionality, so banning you on the onramps also becomes that much harder.

After so many days you can send a demand letter. 30 or 45 I think.

They have so many days to respond. 30 I think.

But I think it's 180 days max to return it.

Do a search if it's needed, the numbers will be there, and even a template.

If you call them (go for next level up support, and ask for an American if they are in India or some shithole) and say here's the tracking number to the demand letter (signature required). That usually gets their ass motivated.

I'm really enjoying searX. It's an open source meatasearch framework that anyone can deploy either locally, on a private network, or as a public website, and it searches several different search engines, such as the 3 mentioned, at once. And it doesn't track you and anonymizes your searches on the engines it queries. Can't believe I never heard of it. It's on the list of suggested search engines on Brave's website.

They will say they're not technically 'taking' your money. They're just declining the handling of 'your' funds in and on their system, and because they operate under the Business Commercial Code of Policies and Practices there is a lawful/ legal procedure under which one must 'reclaim' their money from a Corporate Institution ...
