Just because you win a round of russian roulette doesn't mean you start doubting if the bullet is real. FFS we are the only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons on humans. Nuclear war is only a function of time. Eventually it will happen. International conflicts, even if they have petty origins, can turn real in a moments notice. Have you never had a petty dissagreement escalate into a fight? We are humans, look around.
The press were doing their level best to amp up the fear, in terms of the actual substance of the "conflict" there wasn't really much there.
Fine. What do you want to do about China? What would you do if you were in charge?
The US should go back to doing what it was doing in the 50s: Checking their expansion and keeping tabs on their spying. It should be much easier now there's trade for leverage.
