You have to own your own truck so go ahead and cut that price tag in half for insurance, fuel, tax, maintenance, etc. Plus the oil fields always pay really well. It's hard work, long days, and the roads will put a serious beating on your equipment.

You're not lying about the roads. I just pulled a 24 ft travel trailer through I40 and some parts of that road are bullshit. I kept having to change lanes to dodge 8 inch deep crater sized potholes. I thought for sure my trailer was going to crack the frame.

I don't get the comments in this thread. Here is a company that DOES all the right things and pays damn well for experienced drivers willing to sit on their asses in a truck and get the stuff done. I did trucking for 16 years and loved it. But I sure didn't make these high wages. Nobody did back then.

Fellas, if you're out of work, I suggest you consider long haul trucking. Good pay, get paid to see the whole country, and have a girlfriend in every state if that's your thing.

Yeah trucking, with the electric monitor , can't get enough hrs , no places to park cops ,weigh stations ,shitty recievers, crappy food, governed trucks that won't go 55 over an anthill,pesky 4 wheelers that won't yield on entry to interstate. You to can have all this for 800 lousy bucks a week on average. I left when they went to the cdl, accidents went up 52% yeah trucking

I'm making $90,000/yr company driver, OTR. Yeah the ELD sucks but I still do just fine with it. That $800 average pay is only that low because of the mega carriers skewing the shit out of it.

Look Tue money is good but nowhere near that good.

Read carefully. They want to you put in a truck that you will own. Often with some companies this really means its a truck they will put you in debt or lease with the company for. This means they control you and regulate your loads. Some truckers report with some companies that control you through your company truck lease and that suddenly you get less loads and a company is making money off your lease payments to them rather than your driving.
