Churches used to be the best place for homosexuals to hide and enjoy respect from the church followers. The problem is lots of these gay priests are pedophiles, so it was a win/win situation. The Vatican is to blame for moving them to other parishes when they got accused of molesting kids, where they were able to continue without any problem.
