Fair enough. If I did think of something I thought justified taxation I'd probably do it thought pure sales taxes or import taxes on luxury goods.
Not really. Capital gains is tax advantaged and I don't see why it should be. At least not in the current state of affairs.
I agree that overall government funding should go down. Seems like that could be arranged. I'd start with the wars for Israel budget. Just buy everyone in America an AR-15 and we should be fine defending our own territory against the canuck threat.
Thing is, the entire DoD (every useless thing they do) is only around 20% of the federal budget. The left used to pretend they were the majority, but really they're not.
The majority of spending (as in any western nation) is on welfare. If the federal budge is going to be cut, it means welfare spending will have to be cut, and no politician is going to touch that with a bargepole.
