She knew she was manipulating them with public relations. I can understand her wanting to be with her daughter and I can understand if she didn't have that kind of cash to wait for a scheduled flight. For me, I can think of nothing worse in life than losing a child. But of course the charter company isn't in the business of giving free rides. IMO, she may have been devious counting on doing it this way and hoping to shame the company into the free ride. She should have approached them with the PR angle and said she would help spread it if they gave her the flight, or at least discounted w/payments. Now the company has to judge how much this will affect them if they don't bend to her tactics.
