New Orleans is Jogger Murder Capital. First time I went there for work years ago I picked up the local paper on day one just to get familiar with the area and local happenings. On front page was a map of the city with a red dot for every murder that year. The map was almost solid red in some areas with red dots scattered around the city map. The surrounding towns have enclaves of violence and murder as well. Last time I went there was just a couple years back to work in a refinery on a temp repair job.
I leave motel on West Bank and head off for work at 6am. Get back that late afternoon to find my motel is riddled with bullet scars. WTF happened? A gang war? A police shootout? WHAT? It's just a whore who tried scamming a "client" at around the same time I was leaving for work. Client took offense at being ripped off and chased the whore through the motel walkways and balconies and completely emptied his pistol at her. Missed her every time. Room next to mine had window shot out with residents inside. I missed the action by about a minute or so. Cop over by expressway heard the shots, did a U-turn and blocked off perp who was fleeing the shooting in his car. So, he made it about a block before being arrested. Article in newspaper the following day didn't mention what the whore had to say about all this.
Two days later there's a shootout at Mardi Gras. Two gangsters empty their pistols on each other missing with every shot but injuring 8 bystanders. Neither one of the gangsters was arrested according to the news. If you think the joggers are bad, the cops are no better. One cop tried to collect life insurance on his wife who vanished. When insurance company refused to pay out his wife's partially decomposed head turned up next to his mailbox. The cop said, "Dogs must have left it there".
