Reminder: Prosecution and civil suits used to be something that were firmly in the public domain. Then the government started taking over criminal prosecution to make things "fair." Now they unilaterally decide whether someone is prosecuted at all.

Now the government is suing on people's behalf also. How long before lawsuits are something only the government can take?

Yeah, in the past if you thought someone had committed a crime and you wanted to do something about it you could privately investigate, take your evidence to a judge and prosecute them (assuming the judge agreed to hear the case). Now governments control all three functions.
