Ismay wants to “break the will” - his words - of people who rely on gasoline to power their cars and oil and natural gas to heat their homes, in order to “combat climate change.” “Sixty percent of our emissions come from residential heating and passenger vehicles,” Ismay told an audience gathered to hear him expostulate – using the royal “our” as collectivists reflexively do when they mean to say everyone except themselves, especially when it comes to having wills broken. He went on to say that these “emissions” – of the dread inert gas carbon dioxide that doesn’t create smog or cause breathing problems – “that need to be reduced” – the assertion is taken as established fact – “come from you, the person on your street, the senior on fixed income.”

No matter what it takes, no matter what it costs.

He described “turn(ing) the screws” . . . in order to “break (the) will” of such deplorables. That is to say, the desire of the deplorables to resist being impoverished – and frozen – by well-paid-by-those-who-are-forced-to-pay-them government workers such as himself.

Doesn't help the millions trapped in cities where wood stoves are not present and largely not allowed.
What needs to happen is a major exodus from the cities, but that is severely hindered by exclusive water rights, building permits and a pervasive culture of "services provided by the state." The Keepers do not want their slaves getting out.

I agree, the problem is that not everyone can prepare effectively because of the system. What about the mass of renters who have almost little say in what happens on and in the dwelling in which they reside?

"when there is no 'service' you shriek and freeze to death instead of taking control" - That I agree with. Reguardless of preparedness you should at least have the awareness to take action.

There’s no excuse for incompetence. It is possible to fend for yourself and also hate that those who can’t were killed by the gross incompetence around them.

They don't have wood stoves there, you idiot.

This isn't normal weather.
