Knew a kid who grew up on soy-based vegan foods that all pretended to be real foods, eg: soy "chicken" nuggets. His mother was indeed big on a quasi-Christian cult, and she did try to keep her and her son isolated even though they lived in suburbia, but he regularly hung out with the other boys in the neighborhood.
