Yes, I understand this and if they were to be too drunk to drive then I would give them a ride home. I grew up in a tourist town and in the winter, it shuts down and the cops are bored and will do this very thing to the locals, even when they attempt to walk home. They would charge for drunk and disorderly or drunk in public or anything else they could get to stick. Straight up tyrants. So, yes, I have done this, but not last night or for at least 20 years. I just thought it would be a funny story from my youth. My adult children can and do call me for a ride when needed. I'd rather they did that than attempt to drive drunk and kill someone.
