I played decoy last night. Some relatives and some good friends of mine were at a bar drunk as hell and there was a cop babysitting the parking lot. These drunk fuckers call me up and asked for a ride home. Fuck that. Told them I'd be there in a few. I get to the bar and there he is, sitting in his car and waiting for people to leave. So, I act like I'm drunk and stumble in. I talk to the guys and tell them my plan, wait 5 minutes and then leave. I buy a 6 pack to go and stumble back to my car. Cop pulls me over and I proceed to waste his time. I mumble my answers and act suspiciously and meanwhile I watch everyone of my friends leave and all of the sudden I'm sober and coherent. The cop's pissed because he knew what I just did and my friends made it home safe. Fuck the revenue collectors.

Yes, I understand this and if they were to be too drunk to drive then I would give them a ride home. I grew up in a tourist town and in the winter, it shuts down and the cops are bored and will do this very thing to the locals, even when they attempt to walk home. They would charge for drunk and disorderly or drunk in public or anything else they could get to stick. Straight up tyrants. So, yes, I have done this, but not last night or for at least 20 years. I just thought it would be a funny story from my youth. My adult children can and do call me for a ride when needed. I'd rather they did that than attempt to drive drunk and kill someone.
