What if you have two countries neighboring each other and a social media network operates in both countries or has presence there. They both have relatively similar laws in 95% of cases, including that they both have this law. But they aren't 100% identical. So now you either are hosting illegal content in one, or censoring legal content in the other.
Basically this kind of law would require that all countries have identical laws.
Here's an idea. Social media companies can do what they like. Don't like what they do, as well you shouldn't, build your own or use another. Try to get other people to leave it.
I'm going to be free speech on the sites I run personally, but a maze of pro-censorship and anti-censorship laws in every country isn't going to make running sites easier for the little guy. It actually makes it impossible.
How about this. If you are a government, you don't get to have an opinion about what's on the internet.
