Don't give your phone number to a free speech site. Pretty much don't give your phone number to any site unless it's a financial site like a trading platform where you need to 2FAuth moving large amounts of money around. But that's it.

Facebook shouldn't have your number. Parler shouldn't have your number. Google shouldn't have your number.

Unless you go through a trusted proxy in another country, or use something like Tor, they will find you whether you supply a phone number or not.

And even then, if "they" really want to get back at you, they'll get back at you, it's only a matter of "return on investment", of target value, of priority

Granted, you would need to fuck up really bad and hard, to force them to get back at you through those "channels", but that's not technically impossible, there are ways ultimately

It always makes me laugh when people worry about the fed getting their publicly available phone number and never worry about the thousands of web site logs that contain their IP address. I should become a tinfoil salesman.

But they will find you quicker through a phone number than through an IP. With an IP they have to subpoena your ISP which can take about two months. With a phone number they seem to be able to find someone the next day with zero problem.

Somehow you believe that the three letter agencies actually follow the law.

Yeah but unless you give them something directly linked to your identity fucking you over might take some effort. Cant have that where freedom supposedly reigns can we?

The reason I didn't join Parler was because of their requirement that you must provide them with your phone number.

I thought Parler was gone for good. How could they possibly share any information with anyone?

Gab cooperates with the FBI, but it has only happened a number of times. It has always involved realistic, specific, targeted threats. And in one case, Mr. Bowers.
