I remember about 15 years ago thinking Google was likely to perfect AI. They had the people, the resources, and seemed to be going down the right track. Then it all got derailed. It's almost a perfect analogy to the tower of babel. Now they spend non-trivial amounts developer time determining if the phrase "sanity check" is offensive.
