But in Newark, where the de-escalation program was used:

Overall crime was down 6% this year. The city saw 51 homicides, the same as 2019

Incident it was started 2 years ago, 2019. That year had the lowest rate in 60 years

YOUR FACE was started 2 years ago

It's not great, because it's not true, I actually read the article. OP must have read it too quickly, you can read my post about it if you please.

You actually read the article?

Wow, you're COOL!!!

Hey bro, your headline is misleading (I'm sure it wasn't on purpose). The article is talking about 1 division of police in 1 city (Newark), and possibly about 1 single incident when BLM tried to takeover a precinct. With respect, if you believed for a second that no cop fired his or her weapon even one time during the space of a year in the entire state of NJ (famous for it's long history of police brutality and corruption) 1) you are credulous well beyond what an adult should be

2) it almost certainly fit your biases contributing to this misunderstanding

3) you should be aware that you're hoodwinked fairly easily if it's something you'd prefer to believe. Nothing wrong with that, just adjust your cognitive bullshit-detector when you read something that makes you happy. We all have huge biases and blind spots, but the wise man is aware of his and will react accordingly.

Police are taught to escalate. "Comply or die". Fuck police generally, but particularly fuck NJ police. Sub-human trash. Some of NJ is really pretty (the western part) but everything is illegal, and corrupt as fuck and they all drive like assholes. Deescalation training, as long as it isn't bullshit, really should be a part of every cops training. Escalation and threats that cops hand out ought to be recognized as crimes. Unfortunately a badge gives you de facto protection against criminal behavior.

What's the best thing to come out of NJ? Interstate 95.

But......but NJ has a bunch of beaches and stuff. And the pine barrens!

[–] 1 pt

lol, and smog, and paper factories, and trash, tagging, and of course the denizens of NJ.

[–] 1 pt

And terrible drivers. It's worth mentioning again.

This should be the model for all states not the militarisation of police.
