The Chinese have been challenging this for sometime, I can imagine what the average chinaman thinks if you were to tell him he is descended from Africans - https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18093-chinese-challenge-to-out-of-africa-theory/

I was always suspicious of the Out Of Africa theory when I discovered that this is based on the discovery of a fossilized remains called Lucy that is the first skeleton with an upright pelvis and presumably humanities ancestor.

But it turns out Lucy is like a 3 foot tall monkey with deformed hips. I mean I've seen monkeys gamboling around in their back legs, it doesn't necessarily follow that they have to be the common ancestor of mankind. And it's also pretty obvious that the fossil record is far more accessible in the desert than it is in other parts of the world.
