Those guys were promised a lot of shit and never given it. They are rightly on strike. I've got a brother in the steelworkers here in Alabama. It is bullshit. That company owns a lot of other plants in other countries and thinks they can treat us like the other places. They lied to those employees.

Fellow Alabamian here. Your right and hope them the best. Is this steel used in making cars?? Lots of cars made around middle Alabama.

If I'm not mistaken the branch of the company he works in makes tubing in this this part of Alabama. He may have changed jobs to a big wire company here in Alabama. We don't see eye to eye on the world so we haven't talked in years mainly hear stuff through my father. My brother is a piece of shit who who doesn't even see his own kids even though he has every chance to. It rubs me the wrong way.

WTF.

I thought that literally all of our steelwork was outsourced to asia at this point.

I live close to a town of <5k, and there's a steel plant in our town (but it is a shit job and well-paid for a reason, we often filter people at where I work by casually saying, "You could go work at the foundary."). There's a surprising number of them around when you start paying attention, or maybe that's just where I live.

Wow, there was an awesome steel mill not super far from where I grew up. It was always a creepy awesome ruin for as long as I could remember, even though it was still in business when I was little... I just didn't have a motorcycle back then and ride out that way when it was still running. But it was an interesting place to drink beer and be a retard teenager, when I was a retard teenager. Because it was out of business and just weirdly abandoned and empty and not quite in the middle of nowhere, but off to the side and a bit north of nowhere.
