Luckily, in my area, they've definitely died off a good bit. Still exist, but not in the hoards of millions in which they first appeared.
Same here. I went from not knowing what they were - and making the mistake of stepping on one - to seeing them everywhere I went. Now there seems to be fewer of them.

Took him days to find one. Where they are native. Nah,not gonna twist my panties over this one.
They actually avoid people and pets and only sting when provoked like bees. The problem with them is that they kill bees.
