That's right! I did read an article that Tractor Supply was running out of chicks. People were lining up to buy the as soon as they arrived.

Private sellers in my area are asking $10/chick. $10-20 per dozen hatching eggs.

You can also check out local small farms. There's at leadt one close by me where you co-op a milk cow to legally get raw milk. I think the same place may do the same with buying into a cow for butchering.

And likely if there was to be a shortage it would not be long term. If we had to get our protein from beans and other sources for a month it would not be the end of the world. Just no bugs...lol.
