In one sense I can understand the criticism of the police in that they arrested the guy because of words posted on Facebook. Yeah, they should've gotten the reference or they should've talked to him first.
That said, this is exactly the type of situation when the police would be raked over the coals for NOT doing something if the guy turned out to be more than just an asshole on Facebook. Was he trying to incite panic? Was he just trying to be funny? Who knows? Now it's up to the lawyers to decide.
