Man, comments like that are lawsuit fodder and have been for years. As someone who has managed staff in the past, you have to know not to say that kinda shit.
He might of thought he was friends with the guy and was trying to offer helpful advice.
Still duh...
If you are applying for a position of authority a pre-requisite should be that you can obtain the respect of those who you wish have authority over. Regardless of modern sensitivities the lawsuit should be thrown out on that basis.
